Recommended Accessories for DJI Phantom 3

Drone

I recently bought myself a used DJI Phantom 3 Standard drone from Offerup.com for about $100. The original owner had upgraded himself to a newer DJI drone and was willing to part with it. However, it didn’t come with a bag and the batteries were all dead. Below are some of my recommended batteries which you can buy today as most of the original batteries are no longer being sold by DJI.

Bag

I would recommend this soft bag if you want to carry it around and have it like a backpack.

If you want to a hard case, I would recommend this case

Batteries and Charging Hub

As I mentioned before, I had to buy new non-DJI branded batteries as the original batteries that came with the drone were all DEAD. So my only option was to buy non-DJI branded batteries. I found these batteries below to be sufficient as I was able to fly the drone for about 25 minutes fully charged.

Remote Controller Table Holder

If you are like me, the bigger the screen the better it is. I am sorry but that mobile phone screen is just too small for me. So I decided to go for an upgrade to a table holder.

Remote Controller Signal Range Extender

I wanted to extend the range of the transmission between my Remote and my Drone. So i found this kit to enable the drone to fly a lot further than a standard antenna.

Remote Controller Omni Directional Antenna

I had the option of using the above bi-directional antenna but I chose to use two extra omni-directional antennas instead.

Filters

It looked like there aren’t too many decent filters available for Phantom 3 Standard. I was only able to find used one which I would recommend on Amazon and maybe the one for Adorama for some different model of the Phantom 3.

Check Amazon

I purchased this filter below from Adorama, however it didn’t fit my camera as mine do not have a screw in mount for the filter. However, it might work for your drone.

External Storage

The next item is good external storage which acts as a backup for all your Memory cards. A couple of things could go wrong such as losing your drone and with it all your pictures and videos on that memory card still in the drone. Another thing is that you misplaced your memory card and everything is lost. Having good decent external storage acts as a backup for all your memories.

Memory Storage

To use an SD card with DJI Mini 2, you need to make sure that the SD card meets the following requirements:

  • The SD card should be UHS-I U3 (Meaning Speed Class 3) and should have a minimum write speed of 30MB/s or above.
  • The maximum storage of the SD card can’t exceed 256gb as that’s the maximum supported by DJI Mini 2.

Sun Shade

Some days you might be flying your drone during a super bright day and you wish that you have some kind of shade on your phone while flying it. Look no further as I can recommend you the sunshade from SummitLink.

SummitLink Black 6-inch Sunshade fits up to iPhone 6 Plus: https://amzn.to/463q42T

Strobe Light

Some of us fly our drones when the sun sets or during the late evening, and the FAA requires you to have a strobe light attached to your drone. I found this strobe light to do what I needed to get me compliant.
